Marvel's Cloak And Dagger will return in April…

Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger season 2 is arriving very soon! Marvel and Freeform made the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con that the drama would be back this year for 10 more episodes, which is good news for fans of comic book TV and fans of good TV alike.

We now have an air date for season 2, and it’s 4th April in the US. Amazon Prime Video UK made the episodes available to stream within 24 hours last season, and we presume it’ll do the same with season 2.

Cloak And Dagger follows New Orleans teens Tandy (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) as they struggle to understand their burgeoning superpowers and their place in a divine destiny. The show is based on the comic book characters created by Bill Mantlo and Ed Hannigan who first appeared in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #64 before headlining their own comic book series.

Cloak And Dagger is one of the best new shows on TV, and tells a superhero story that truly feels like it exists in the real world, with Tandy and Tyrone forced to deal with real-world issues like poverty, racism, and sexism. The show has connected with audiences. The premiere was Freeform’s number one series debut in two and a half years with 4.4 million viewers across all platforms. Basically, it’s awesome.

More as we get it.

Cloak And Dagger season 2 will drop on 4th April, which likely means a 5th April streaming date on Amazon Prime Video UK.

Our US chums also had a chance to talk with series showrunner Joe Pokaski and his cast at SDCC. So, when might Tandy and Tyrone get together?

“That’s gonna be season I’m not telling you,” joked Pokaski.

Series star Olivia Holt (Tandy) is glad that Tandy and Tyrone have been given the space to do their own thing in this first season, and to build a friendship rather than a romance.

“Well I think that’s the whole point is we’re going through our own journey,” she mused. “The world keeps pushing us together and pulling us apart because we’re trying to deal with our own issues. Justice for his brother, justice for Tandy’s dad. And I think everything just sort of keeps leading them back together.”

At the time of their SDCC appearance, Holt noted, Tandy is still involved romantically with Liam and Tyrone is dating Evita.

“I understand that everybody wants them to be together,” said Holt, “but, for me, I feel like it’s so important, when I watch the show, to be able to respect and appreciate a character as a individual.”

Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger season 2 villain

In the Cloak and Dagger TV show, Brigid O’Reilley is portrayed by Emma Lahana and, in the first season, she has been a friend and ally for both Tyrone and Tandy, especially the former, getting actively involved in the effort to take Connors, the cop who shot Tyrone’s brother Billy, down.

Our US chums talked to the series’ showrunner about the eventual appearance of Mayhem, a storyline that he teased will give viewers a Killmonger-like villain, aka a villain they can relate to.

“We got very excited, the writers and I, when we were breaking the first season,” said Pokaski, “because we knew who Mayhem was and we knew Brigid began as a friend and it was very exciting as writers to say, ‘Oh, low key, we can start telling the origin story of a villain in the most ninja way possible. So, it’s just been fun.”

Though Pokaski didn’t want to give too much away about Brigid’s transformation into Mayhem, he teased: “I think Mayhem, without spoiling too much, is kind of what we wish we all were if we didn’t face consequences.”
