Shaun Evan’s Endeavour Morse faces a new year, a new police station, and a new look in series six of the crime drama, starting on ITV this Sunday the 10th of February at 9pm.
The new look includes a rather special moustache, which caused not inconsiderable excitement among Endeavour fans when the first filming photos and this trailer arrived online.
In an in-depth chat with the Endeavour creator about series six and beyond, Russell Lewis laughed when the frisson created in the fandom by Morse’s facial fuzz was brought up. He told Den Of Geek,
“Well, there is a reason for that! We’ll see what people make of it. You look at the mop-tops in ’64, and by ’69, they’re men. That’s as much a part of it as anything else, but there is a reason for it, which I hope will become apparent.”
“The fashions and hairstyles have always been great fun to play with, without going too over the top with it. When we look at documentaries, it’s always the cutting-edge fashion, but on the streets, it’s usually a couple of years behind. There’s still a little bit of lingering ‘50s and early-‘60s style.”
It’s not just set-dressing then. A disguise perhaps? An undercover role for our man? A bet?
