While the spin-off would not centre around any existing Jane The Virgin characters, it would be helmed by writer Valentina Garza.

Tis the season of TV series development announcements! The latest news to come out of The CW’s current development season? According to Vulture, the network is considering a Jane The Virgin spin-off, to carry on the spirit of Jane The Virgin after the show makes its final bow this television season.

The proposed Jane The Virgin spin-off is currently untitled, but would be written by longtime Jane The Virgin writer Valentina Garza. Gina Rodriguez, Jane The Virgin creator/showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman, Ben Silverman, Joanna Klein, and Emily Gipson would executive produce the series, with Jane The Virgin director Brad Silberling serving as a director and executive producer on the series.

Little is known about the plot of the proposed Jane The Virgin spin-off, though Vulture reports that it would not include any of the characters from the source material show. Right now, the script is in development and is in the running to be picked up for pilot season. Look for more news on that in late December or early January.

The Jane The Virgin spin-off has a lot of competition, as do all proposed projects during development season. Other TV shows also being considered by The CW include: A Dorian Gray adaptation. An adaptation of Victoria Schwab’s City Of Ghosts book series. And a reboot of The 4400.
