Rutger Hauer is on fire in a new mystery horror

The first teaser has arrived for The Sonata, a new mystery horror debut from british director Andrew Desmond.

Freya Tingley (Once Upon A Time), Simon Abkarian (Casino Royale) and James Faulkner (Atomic Blonde) star, with Rutger Hauer joining the cast as some kind of creepy looking old ghost man whose arms are on fire.

Set in London and France, the follows a young virtuoso violinist (Tingley) as she inherits a mansion from her famous composer Dad (Hauer). Digging through his draws, she discovers a mysterious music score marked with weird symbols and she starts trying to decode them – unspooling all kinds of awful family secrets.

Desmond makes his feature directorial debut with The Sonata and co-wrote the script with Arthur Morin. From what we can see so far, the whole thing looks pretty stylish and creepy:

Here’s the official synopsis:

After being informed of the sudden death of her long lost composer father, a young virtuoso violinist, Rose, inherits an old mansion in which he used to live. There, she discovers her father’s final work: a mysterious music score marked with strange symbols. With the help of Charles, her agent and manager, she deciphers the symbols and, little by little, starts to unlock secrets concerning her father’s past, setting in motion the mechanisms of a somber plan imagined since the very day she was born.

The Sonata doesn’t have a release date just yet, but we’ll bring you more as we get it.
