We’ve already seen two trailers for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, but the latest teaser for the Sony/Marvel spin-off makes it look even better – with Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s humour shining through some pretty stunning animation.
Weirdly, the film will attempt to unite every single Spider-Man movie continuity in one, acting as a bridge between the Tobey Maguire spidey and the current MCU, via Miles Morales. And Peni Parker. And Spider-Gwen. And Spider-Ham. And Spider-Man Noir. (And possibly Nicolas Cage.)
It turns out Kingpin does something to the multiverse and causes all the spider-persons to collide in modern day New York – with Morales front and centre in a story that also brings in Green Goblin and Scorpion. It sounds a bit bonkers, and it is – written by Lord and Miller in their trademark Lego Movie style – but it’s all lovingly animated to look like a moving comic book.
Shameik Moore voices Miles alongside the likes of Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry and Lily Tomlin, making it one of the starriest ensembles we’ve ever seen for an animated superhero movie.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be released on 14th of December.
