“Look down at me and you see a fool. Look up at me and you see a god. Look straight at me and you see yourself.” Infamous words from the infamous homicidal mastermind, Charles Manson. But Quentin Tarantino looked at him and saw Damon Herriman. The Australian actor, who had a recurring role on Justified, was just cast as Manson in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, the director’s upcoming ninth movie set amid the Manson family murder spree, according to Variety.
Tarantino’s film will focus on a fading TV western star Rick Dalton and his stunt double Cliff Booth, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, respectively, as they age into the changing landscape that was the 1960s. The pair live next door to Sharon Tate, played by Margot Robbie, the rising starlet who was married to Roman Polanski, being played by Rafal Zawierucha.
The film has been attracting A-list players and Hollywood legends like Al Pacino, Burt Reynolds, Dakota Fanning, Kurt Russell, Timothy Olyphant, James Marsden, Emile Hirsch, Lena Dunham and Damian Lewis, and they are joined by the newly cast Rumer Willis (Empire), who will play actress Joanna Pettet; Dreama Walker (Compliance, Don’t Trust The B* In Apt 23) as singer Connie Stevens, and Costa Ronin (The Americans) who plays actor Voytek Frykowski, and Mike Moh as martial arts expert and actor Bruce Lee.
On Justified, Herriman played Dewey Crowe, a criminal and White Supremacist, as well as taking minor roles in the likes of House Of Wax, Battle Creek and Breaking Bad.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is scheduled to open on July 26, 2019.
