After a long silence and many rumours, the History Channel has given the official green light to Knightfall season 2. Following in the tradition of its highly successful period drama, Vikings, the History Channel introduced another historical fiction series in Knightfall, capturing the political intrigue of the Crusades and the Knights Templar who sought the holy grail during the Middle Ages.
“In the face of ever-increasing competition, we’re proud of History’s track record of producing signature drama series that are epic in scope with complex characters,” said Eli Lehrer, Executive Vice President of Programming at History Channel. “Whether it’s the legendary Knights Templar, the extraordinary tale of medieval Norsemen, or the story of a formerly classified United States Air Force program investigating UFOs during the Cold War, these series reflect our commitment to bringing the defining, big canvas stories of history to life. We look forward to offering our viewers a grittier, darker Knightfall season 2.”
We’re big fans of the show, and with the exciting news that Knightfall has been renewed, now all that’s left is to wait for news of a return date!
Knightfall season 2 cast
Fans will no doubt be overjoyed to hear that Star Wars‘ Mark Hamill will join the cast of Knightfall season 2. Hamill will play the role of Talus, a battle-hardened Knight Templar veteran of the Crusades, who survived captivity for ten years in the Holy Land and is tasked with training the new initiates to the Order.

Also joining the cast in season two is Tom Forbes (The Bastard Executioner) as Prince Louis, the violent and unpredictable son of King Philip and heir to the throne, and Genevieve Gaunt (The Royals) as Isabella, the daughter of King Philip who is well on her way to becoming the woman history refers to as “the she-wolf of France.”
The network also announced that Aaron Helbing (The Flash, Spartacus: War Of The Damned) has been brought on as showrunner and executive producer for Knightfall season 2.
Knightfall season 2 air date
The UK version of the History Channel only started airing Knightfall season 1 this past July! So we may be waiting a long while for season 2. The US can probably expect new episodes early in 2019, however.
