Ewan McGregor is to make an appearance on CBeebies, reading a brand new bedtime story called Everybody’s Welcome, the BBC has announced.
The tale is written by Patricia Hegarty and illustrated by Greg Abbott, and it’ll air this Friday evening (17th August) when your children should probably feel tired, but they won’t. No, they’ll want a biscuit, or an ice cream. “It’s too late for an ice cream,” you’ll say, knowing any amount of push-back will result in yet another tantrum, but the last thing they’ll need is more sugar at that point. They’ll already be so, so wound up, and they’ll just not settle down or listen, no matter how many times you tell them that if they just. got. some. sleep…they’d feel a lot better in the morning.
Sorry, the six-week summer holidays are taking a toll on the ol’ sanity! What were we saying? Ah, yes. The star of Trainspotting and Fargo is set to weave the tale of “a little mouse who dreams of building a home where he can welcome those in need, a home where everybody’s welcome, no matter who they are or where they come from.” The mouse will then learn that “if they work as a team, they can build a house to keep everyone safe and warm, where they all feel they belong” in the episode, according to the BBC bumf.
“It’s such an honour and pleasure to join an incredible list of actors to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story to children all over the UK,” McGregor said in a statement. “I had a great time filming and I hope everyone enjoys watching it.”
The Phantom Menace actor will join a long list of Hollywood-botherers who have previously taken the time to soothe our little ones with a CBeebies Bedtime Story, including Tom Hardy, Chris Evans, Eddie Redmayne, David Tennant and Damian Lewis.
We will be watching, and tired. So very tired.
