Filming is underway for Episode IX and JJ celebrates with a really obscure photo

Star Wars: Episode IX is officially in production.

Filming has started on JJ Abrams’ trilogy closer and he marked the occasion with a very nice, but very unrevealing photo of a camera, possibly inside The Millennium Falcon, probably featuring a blurry Finn and… someone else.

Posting on Twitter, Abrams captioned the image with a nice note thanking The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, tipping his cap to George Lucas, and remembering the late Carrie Fisher.

Soon after, Johnson replied to the tweet with the official Star Wars gif of encouragement:

This first “on-set” photo suggests that Abrams is going to continue his annoying habit of sharing exclusive set photos that reveal absolutely nothing – exactly as he did during The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: Episode IX opens on December 20, 2019, and you can follow all the latest news and rumours here
