Nottingham’s finest is back in the hood. And he looks… slightly historically inaccurate.

Taron Egerton is picking up the bow and arrow for the biggest shake-up of the Robin Hood legend since he was played by a beatnik cartoon fox. Playing a “war-hardened Crusader” alongside Jamie Foxx, Egerton is set to make everyone forget about the basically okay-ish last version of Robin Hood with Russell Crowe in it.

You can watch the new trailer here:

Fair enough, Robin Hood (probably) wasn’t a real person in real history, but it looks like director Otto Bathurt (Peaky Blinders) is leaning pretty heavily on the “myth” side of the story – with Robin hurling Molotov cocktails, pulling off slow-mo bullet-dives, and fighting off hordes of knights with what looks like a machine-gun-crossbow-thing.

It all looks pretty interesting – and it’s interestingly pretty too – with a slight Assassin’s Creed vibe to a lot of the panoramas and a very Arrow feel to the action. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? We’ll have to wait until November 21st to find out. In the meantime, we do have these very stylish teaser posters to pour over…
