Erin Cressida Wilson, who wrote screenplays for The Girl On The Train, and Secretary, will write a remake of the film Indecent Proposal for Paramount Players, according to Deadline.
Made in 1993, Indecent Proposal dared to ask the question: can I give you a million dollars in exchange for a night with your wife? The movie generated quite a bit of discussion at the time, if we recall.
The film adaptation of Jack Engelhard’s book of the same name was directed by Adrian Lyne. The movie starred Robert Redford as a billionaire who offers a young married couple, played by Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson, a million dollars for one romantic evening after they blew all their money gambling.
Indecent Proposal was a box office hit, earning $266 million worldwide, but received mixed reviews, including split thumbs from Siskel and Ebert. It was rewarded with three wins at the Razzie Awards, including Worst Picture.
The update will have to circumnavigate the changing social landscape that follows the #MeToo movement. Wilson also wrote Steven Shainberg’s film Fur: An Imaginary Portrait Of Diane Arbus, which starred Nicole Kidman, and penned Men, Women & Children and Atom Egoyan‘s drama Chloe. She was also hired to write Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White And The Seven Dwarves.
