HBO confirms that we're finally getting an ending to the Deadwood story…

It’s been a long, long time coming – and that’s an understatement and a half – but the movie of HBO’s ended-too-soon TV show Deadwood is finally going before the cameras this year.

The original TV show didn’t really come to a proper ending when the plug was pulled after its third season aired back in 2006. Boasting a cast including Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant and Molly Parker, the show is regarded as a highpoint for HBO. And if you’ve never had the pleasure, do check it out.

The film? It’s going to shoot, in theory, this coming October, working from a script by David Milch. The key cast are all returning, and HBO will look to air what’s effectively the Deadwood finale in the spring of 2019.

The news of the film comes after years of rumours, false starts and fan hope. That it’s finally coming together? Well, let’s not tempt fate, but crikey, it’s good news. Fingers crossed….
