Surprising news has arrived, as it’s been revealed that Sacha Baron Cohen has been secretly filming a brand new interview-based show, along the same lines as his Ali G and Borat characters’ shenanigans from back in the day.
The new series, called Who Is America? (upon learning the title, we could only hear Drax saying “I’ll do you one better, WHY is America?”) will debut stateside on Showtime on 15th July, and Channel 4 is set to start airing it the next day here in the UK, at 10pm on July 16th.
Here’s a little peek at what we’re in for…
And here’s a brief synopsis of Who Is America?…
“In the works over the past year, the seven-episode series will explore the diverse individuals, from the infamous to the unknown across the political and cultural spectrum, who populate the unique nation..”
We’re going to go out on a limb and say we are likely in no way prepared for what we’re about to witness, a feeling that Showtime honcho David Nevins only compounds in his statement on the sudden arrival of the series:
“Nobody knows how to cause a stir like Sacha Baron Cohen, and it’s going to be fascinating to watch what happens when Who is America? is released on the world.”
Gawd. Strap yerselves in.
