In a lightning-fast turnaround, Deadpool 2 will hit shelves next month. Details…

Deadpool 2 didn’t break the superhero movie mould in quite the same way as its predecessor (or at all, let’s be honest) but it was still a fun old time at the pictures, and it managed to retain a lot of its secret surprises before audiences managed to clap their eyes on it, providing some rare shocks in a film we already knew would probably be jam-packed with easter eggs and spectacular nonsense. Star Ryan Reynolds was the sequel’s biggest champion, of course, a job he took to heart even more than he did the first time he worked tirelessly to bring the merc with a mouth to the big screen.

The second film in the franchise got a huge transfusion of new blood, too, with John Wick director David Leitch taking over from Tim Miller, after disagreements with Reynolds behind the scenes, and Zazie Beetz and Josh Brolin absolutely nailing it as Domino and Cable, respectively.

If you enjoyed a wonderful couple of hours watching Deadpool 2 at the cinema and want to revisit it, you may be surprised to learn that there’s only a little wait in store before you can grab a copy to watch at home – it’s been confirmed that DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD formats of the film will land on shelves on 21st August, stateside. We don’t have a UK release date quite yet, but we figured you’d want to have a little look at all the extra content you’ll be getting in the meantime, and we will of course update you when one has been announced.

Pre-orders are open now at Amazon UK, if that’s your dealer of choice. HMV has confirmed that it’ll have a limited edition steelbook, though, if that’s more your bag.
