Terminator: Genisys and Thor 2 director Alan Taylor is set to return to the world of The Sopranos…

The planned prequel movie to the television series The Sopranos is moving ahead, with Alan Taylor hired to direct the film.

Taylor’s most recent directorial ventures have been Terminator: Genisys and Thor: The Dark World. He’s next set to direct The Many Saints Of Newark, that’ll be set in 1960s New Jersey, and act as a prequel of sorts to The Sopranos. The screenplay has been penned by David Chase and Lawrence Konner, with Chase of course being the brains behind the television series.

Taylor directed episodes of the show, and characters from The Sopranos – albeit in younger guises – are set to appear in The Many Saints Of Newark.

No news yet on a release date for the film. New Line Cinema is overseeing and funding the project.
