The long-in-gestation big screen take on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical, Cats, looks like it’s finally edging towards the screen again.
Universal Pictures is backing the movie, and Tom Hooper – who helmed Les Miserables and The King’s Speech – is still the choice to direct. Billy Elliot’s Lee Hall has penned a screenplay.
And according to a new report, Anne Hathaway is now in talks to take on a role in the movie. Just which role? Couldn’t tell you, but it may all become clear in the coming weeks.
Rihanna is also on the wishlist, although no formal conversations have taken place with her about a part in the movie.
Cats is set to start filming this autumn in the UK, which would point towards a release in late 2019. As we hear more, we’ll let you know.
