Warner Bros settles on Ewan McGregor to headline the screen adaptation of Stephen King's Doctor Sleep…

Warner Bros is pressing ahead with a movie take on The Shining sequel novel, and it’s just recruited Ewan McGregor to star.

The project in question, Doctor Sleep, is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. In it, Danny Torrance holds the traumas of the Overlook Hotel in his adult life. But an encounter with someone else in a small American town opens up his demons once again.

McGregor is going to be taking on the role of Torrance in the movie, and Stephen King has apparently given the casting his blessing. Furthermore, the film is being directed by Mike Flanagan, a director assembling a quietly impressive CV. His last feature was another King adaption, Gerald’s Game, that arrived on Netflix last year.

There’s no word yet on just when to expect the movie. But don’t be surprised if filming begins this year.

More as we gear it, of course.
