The gulf of time means that, despite the generally positive reception of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo‘s 2011 US remake, David Fincher and Rooney Mara have long gone.
In their place, we have Fede Alvarez, the director of the Evil Dead remake and Don’t Breathe, at the helm of The Girl In The Spider’s Web, plus Claire Foy as the new Lizbeth Salander, the wayward computer hacker and all-round force of vigilante justice.
Fans of the Millennium books will know that The Girl In The Spider’s Web is actually the fourth book in the series, written by David Lagercrantz after author Stieg Larsson died in 2004. The novel takes in a criminal organisation called the Spider Society and assorted computer-hacking related intrigue; we don’t yet know how closely the movie will follow the plot of the book, but we do know it’s being adapted by Steven Knight and Fede Alvarez and Jay Basu.
The first trailer can be found below, and as you can see, it’s already looking pretty stylish. The Girl In The Spider’s Web is out in November.
