The Black Cat and Silver Sable Spider-Man spin-off film has encountered a delay…

It looks like that for the time being at least, the clock has beaten the planned Spider-Man spin-off, Silver & Black.

This is the Spider-verse movie that brings together the characters of Silver Sable and Black Cat, and Gina Prince-Bythewood has been confirmed for some time now as the project’s director.

But Sony had previously announced a release date of February 8th 2019 for the project, and without a frame of footage shot, that was looking increasingly ambitious. And so it’s proven. As such, the studio has now abandoned that release date, and not yet announced another.

Silver & Black is still very much a live project, though, and Prince-Bythewood is continuing to co-write and develop the film. But it’s understood that the screenplay isn’t quite locked down yet, and until it is, Sony is likely to be cautious about announcing a new date for the movie.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more about it. In the meantime, the first spin-off in Sony’s new Spider-verse, Venom, arrives this October.
