Here's the first trailer for Mark Millar's The Magic Order, the first comic book series to come from Netflix's acquisition of Millarworld…

The sale of Millarworld to Netflix doesn’t only promise a stream of new films and TV shows from the Mark Millar stable, but also new comic books. The first of those is six-issue series The Magic Order, written by Millar and drawn by celebrated Thor artist Olivier Coipel.

As a UK exclusive, we have a first look at the trailer for the new comic-book run…

Described by Millar in this Entertainment Weekly interview as “The Sopranos meets Harry Potter”, The Magic Order is the story of five families of magicians who’ve hidden in plain sight as stage conjurors, performers and everyday folk while spending their evenings battling the forces of darkness. Here’s the official synopsis:

We live in a world where we’ve never seen a monster and these people are the reason we sleep safely in our beds. Magic meets the mob in The Magic Order, as five families of magicians sworn to protect our world for generations must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day they live among us as our neighbors, friends and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness…unless the darkness gets them first.

Netflix is launching the first issue of six on the 13th of June, with a view to later adapting the series into a TV show or feature film. More news on that as it arrives.
