Deadpool 2 appears to be doing already at the box office, doesn’t it? And with Ryan Reynolds in wise-cracking form, expect more adventures for the Merc With The Mouth on the big screen in the years ahead.
That’s no surprise. But what we didn’t see coming was Reynolds signing up for the new movie from Michael Bay.
Bay hasn’t directed a film since his last Transformers feature, Transformers: The Last Knight, that underperformed slightly at the box office last summer. He will, however, direct Six Underground, an original action movie based on an idea from Deadpool writers and executive producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
Furthermore, the movie has been snapped up by Netflix too, who will be co-funding with Skydance Media.
Filming on the new movie is set to take place over the summer, with a view to a summer 2019 release. Presumably, this one will debut on the Netflix service, rather than on the big screen.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more, of course.
