Just in time for the season finale over in the US, Krypton has been renewed for a second season.
No other details are currently available, but Syfy is pleased with the results they’ve seen from Krypton so far, with season one averaging 1.8 million viewers per week, and the first episode was the network’s highest watched debut since Ascension in 2014.
But what has really carried Krypton so far has been the fact that, despite being a prequel, it is intent on forging its own path. While it’s full of nods to Superman and the wider DC Universe, Krypton has managed to avoid falling into many of the usual prequel traps.
No other details are currently available, but since the first season introduced not only characters directly related to Superman and his homeworld, but also Adam Strange, it’s a safe bet that we’ll be seeing more of the cosmic side of the DC Universe in Krypton season 2.
Krypton season 2 release date
At the moment, all Syfy has said is that Krypton will return in 2019. Since the first season arrived in March, and that’s a favourite premiere window for the network, we’ll pencil this in for some time in first quarter or early second quarter of 2019. As soon as this is confirmed, we’ll update this article.
