Director Ron Howard is currently on the promotional trailer for next week’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. And in a new interview, he’s teased a sequel to one of his 1980s hits.
Willow starred Warwick Davis of course, and was made as part of the Lucasfilm empire. Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley and Kevin Pollak co-star, and since its 1988 bow – it’s 30 years old this year – it’s become a loved 80s fantasy movie.
And it’s another 80s movie too that may be getting a follow-up.
Chatting to ComicBook, Howard confirmed that “there is a little talk of Willow” when asked about another film, although he seemingly quickly cautioned that he didn’t “want to give away too much”.
Nonetheless, the working idea is apparently a sort of spin-off, that follows a grown-up version of the baby Elora from the original movie. “Willow would have to be significantly involved”, Howard added.
As things stand, that’s all we have on the project, and there’s no clue as to timescale, and whether Howard himself would want to direct. As we hear more, we’ll let you know…
