Just as the project finally looked like it was moving forward, the big screen take on The Six Million Dollar Man – cunningly retitled The Six Billion Dollar Man – has hit a stumbling block.
Warner Bros is backing the project, which is scheduled for release next summer. But its director, Damian Szifron, has now left the project, with the old favourite ‘creative differences’ being cited.
Szifron also co-wrote the screenplay for the movie, that for some time has had Mark Wahberg cast as Col Steve Austin, a pilot whose life is saved when he undergoes some rather expensive technical upgrades.
However, the loss of director doesn’t appear to be slowing things down. In fact, Warner Bros wants to press ahead and carry on with planned filming this summer, which means the search for a new director is very much on.
