The 100 season 6 is a go! There’s no keeping these Sky-Teens-turned-Young-Adults down. I guess this ensures that at least one character will make it out of season 5 alive? And, let’s be real, it’s always nice to have that kind of insurance, given this show’s history of going dark.
The CW made the announcement that it would be renewing its post-apocalyptic drama loosely based on Kass Morgan’s YA novel series of the same name today, adding to the renewals it has already granted for Arrow, Black Lightning, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Legends Of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Dynasty, The Flash, Jane The Virgin, Riverdale, and Supernatural.
Yeah, that’s pretty much everything, folks. Even so, it’s not so much of a surprise that The 100 would snag a sixth season. This show has always been a particular hit amongst the online, younger demographic, but it managed to get its best ratings since mid-season 3 with its season 5 premiere. Seems like its bold time jump paid off.
In the season 4 finale, The 100 made a six-year time jump, moving the ages of its teen characters a bit closer to the ages of the cast who are playing them, who are in their 20s and, in some cases, 30s. Narratively, the time jump has been a breath of fresh air for the show, as it has given these characters new alliances and loyalties nurtured during the six years off-screen. The season premiere followed Clarke as she struggled with her loneliness on a scarred, post-Praimfaya Earth, even turning suicidal before finding fellow Nightblood Madi to raise.
The 100 season 6 air date
When might The 100 season 6 premiere? Presumably, sometime in spring 2019, which, yes, seems like a long way off, but, given that we just began season 5, is easy not to get too sad about. We’ll keep you updated on a more official release date as more information presents itself. In the mean time, revel in the knowledge that season 5 will not be The 100‘s last!
