The Hitman’s Bodyguard, for me at least, was a film with an awful lot of promise, but simply not enough good jokes. But then it appears I’m in the minority. The movie took just north of $175m at the global box office off a modest budget, has hit big on home formats, and is thus getting the sequel treatment.
Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson are both now expected to reprise their lead roles for The Hitman’s Bodyguard 2. It’s early stages for the project, that doesn’t as of yet have a screenplay in place. However, the writer of the first film – Tom O’Conner – is back for the second. Furthermore, director Patrick Hughes is back on board for the sequel as well.
The title of the new movie has been confirmed too. It’ll go by the name of The Hitman Wife’s Bodyguard.
We don’t have a release date for the movie as of yet, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
