Hasbro will now own everything released to Power Rangers, although Haim Saban will continue to be involved.

The future of the Power Rangers franchise might just be a bit rosier, with the news that Hasbro has bought it up from Saban. Saban has sold a bunch of assets for just over half a billion dollars, with the deal also including My Pet Monster, Treehouse Detectives and Popples.

But it’s Power Rangers that’s raised our eyebrows. Saban had been exploring a new movie franchise based on the characters, but last year’s reboot didn’t do quite enough cash to instantly warrant the first of many sequels that it was after (and it had a few planned). As such, the movies remain in stasis.

Hasbro has been developing movies in conjunction with Paramount Pictures, and it may be that’s where the films will live going forward.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
