Earlier this week, Paramount Pictures confirmed that it had two more Star Trek movies planned. One of them is the film that Quentin Tarantino pitched to the studio, that he has an eye on directing. But it turns out the next movie in the series will be a continuation of the adventures of the reboot crew, led by Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.
And progress has been made on that one, which looks like it’s the next Trek film up. The studio is homing in on its choice of directing for Star Trek 4/Star Trek 14 (take your choice which you prefer to call it). S J Clarkson is in talks for the job now. She came to Paramount’s attention for directing the pilot episode of Netflix’s Jessica Jones series. J D Payne and Patrick McKay have penned the screenplay for the new film.
Furthermore, the Tarantino project is now believed to be in a separate timeline to the current run of films. That’s second in the queue.
There’s no official release date yet, but if Paramount is at the stage of bringing directors on board, it’d be fair to assume that the studio wants to get the project filming in the next 12 months.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
