World War Z 2 doesn't look like it's going to be filming this year after all…

The sequel to World War Z increasingly feels like the sequel we’ll never get to see. Brad Pitt was all set to return in the movie, and David Fincher had been circling the director’s chair. But not for the first time, it feels as though the film is inching further away.

It seems that Netflix’s second season of Mindhunters, with which Fincher is also involved, has taken precedent. That’s now moving towards filming later this year, and the knock on effect is that that’s where David Fincher’s immediate energies will be heading. World War Z 2 had been expected to film later this year (at last), but it now looks as though the earliest cameras will roll is in 2019. That points to a 2020 release date, should Paramount still decide to go ahead with the project. Brad Pitt is still producing, and more script work is apparently ongoing.

Conversely, we’d guess that Mindhunters season 2 will be on Netflix next year. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
