The Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald trailer introduces us to Nicholas Flamel

A new trailer has arrived in San Diego Comic-Con for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald.

In it we get a glimpse of Newt as a boy, some more spectacular beasts and in it we’re introduced to the alchemist who made the Philosopher’s Stone (or Sorceror’s Stone in you’re in the US), Nicholas Flamel. He pops up at the end of the trailer explaining that he’s not in fact a ghost (he looks a bit like one), he’s immortal because he’s an alchemist. Flamel is played by Brontis Jodorowsky, and we’d expect him to be a key part of the story.

We also see Jude Law, who plays a young Dumbledore looking into the mirror of Erised and seeing Johnny Depp who plays Gellert Grindelwald – an interesting moment given JK Rowling has said that Dumbledore was in love with Grindelwald but that this won’t be explicitly referenced in the film.

The first teaser trailer arrived in March and gave us our first good look at Dumbledore and other new characters including Callum Turner as Theseus Scamander and Claudia Kim as a character listed as ‘Maledictus’ as well as returning regulars Eddie Redmayne as Newt, Alison Sudol as Queenie, Katherine Waterston as Porpetina and Dan Fogler as Jacob.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald arrives in the UK on 16 November 2018.
