Get your first look at the future of the whole MCU

The first trailer for Captain Marvel has finally arrived.

Like most other Marvel reveals, the trailer was dropped on Good Morning America – with Brie Larson presenting it in person before sending the rest of the world into a mad YouTube scramble to try and rewatch it as soon as possible. As expected, it looks amazing. Also as expected, it reveals very little about the end of Infinity War – which is one of the main reasons most of us can’t wait to watch it.

Set in the late 90s, the film skips Carol Danvers’ backstory and throws us straight into the action – annoyingly long enough before the last Avengers movie to not have any direct impact on the main MCU arc. Yet.

The film might be set in the past but there’s a good reason why Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) called Captain Marvel during the credit sting of Infinity War, and the film looks set to show us exactly what that reason is.

Larson stars in the film alongside a (digitally-de-aged) Jackson and Clark Gregg, with Jude Law, Lee Pace, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, Annette Bening and Ben Mendelsohn classing up the rest of the cast list.

The first female-led movie of the MCU? The introduction of a character who’s being lined up to save the entire universe? This one is kind of a big deal.
