Want a Resident Evil 3 remake? Capcom says you just have to let them know.

If you’re one of the many holding out hope for a Resident Evil 3 remake, Capcom wants you to know that you just need to make your wishes known.

In an interview with Japanese publication Game Watch (translated by Dual Shockers), Resident Evil 2 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi tells fans that they need to make sure Capcom knows they want a Resident Evil 3 remake (or a remake of any other game in the series). That might sound like some fairly generic advice meant to appease an eager fanbase, but it doesn’t sound like that’s the case.

In fact, Hirabayashi notes that the biggest reason that Capcom stuck with the Resident Evil 2 remake through the years is that fans never really stopped talking about it. He indicated that their persistence truly was the driving force behind the game finally seeing the light of day.

While wishes are nice and all, the thing that might really put further Resident Evil remakes over the top is how well the Resident Evil 2 remake performed. Not only did we absolutely love it, but early reports already have it high on several global best-seller lists (including the Steam charts where it reportedly sold historically well for a Capcom PC game).

In our minds, though, the best reason to remake Resident Evil 3 is the quality and nature of the game itself. Partially inspired by the Clock Tower franchise (as well as a memorable villain in Resident Evil 2), Resident Evil 3 focused on the Nemesis. Essentially a slasher movie stalker, the Nemesis pursued the player throughout much of the adventure and proved to be nearly impossible to stop in many instances. While the game suffered from some questionable design decisions, the presence of the Nemesis elevated the underrated horror title and helps it stand out from the series pack.

Of course, it would also be nice to see a remake of the oft-forgotten Resident Evil: Code Veronica, the revolutionary Resident Evil 4, or even the very Resident Evil-like Dino Crisis series.
