Sally Hawkins stars in the tremendous-looking The Shape Of Water. Here's the first trailer…

A new film from Guillermo del Toro? That’d be a yes please already, but on top of that, The Shape Of Water – his latest feature – is looking really rather impressive.

It stars Sally Hawkins as a janitor, and Doug Jones as top secret man in a water tank. The cast also features Octavia Spencer, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins and Michael Stuhlbarg. What’s more, the first trailer for the movie has landed, along with an official synopsis for the film. Here’s the trailer…

And here’s that synopsis…

From master story teller, Guillermo del Toro, comes THE SHAPE OF WATER – an other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment. Rounding out the cast are Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stuhlbarg and Doug Jones.

The film is earmarked for release in America on December 8th. We suspect we may have to wait until 2018 for its UK release.
