Casting is now underway for the new John McClane…

It’s been nearly two years now since news landed of a possible sixth Die Hard movie. This is the one that would part act as a John McClane origins story, and part be set in the present day. Die Hard 4.0 director Len Wiseman was attached to the project. And then things went quiet. For a long time.

It turns out, though, that the project is still active, and in fact is likely to be Wiseman’s next big screen directorial outing. Chatting to Deadline – whilst mainly talking about the Underworld TV series that’s planned – Wiseman has been talking about finding an actor to play the young McClane. “The right casting for this role is crucial”, he said. “Those bare feet have some very big shoes to fill”.

The casting process is apparently underway right now too, although nobody seems to be in a particular hurry. Bruce Willis is all but certain to return to the boxset of diminishing returns. Lorenzo Bonaventura is set to produce the film, too.

More on Die Hard 6 as we hear it. After A Good Day To Die Hard, we’re hoping for a Creed-alike turnaround…
