Christopher Nolan admits he's chatted a few times to the producers of the James Bond movies, and is definitely interesting in making one.

Heading into cinemas next week is Christopher Nolan’s new film – his first since Interstellar – the World War II-set thriller, Dunkirk. The press tour for the movie is underway too, and Nolan has been chatting to, er, Playboy about the upcoming film (the link at the bottom is safe for work, we should point out).

In the chat, the possibility of directing a James Bond movie comes up, something that Nolan has been linked on and off with many times over the past decade. Turns out though that there’s a little bit of fire to go with the smoke here.

“A Bond movie, definitely”, he said. “I’ve spoken to the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson over the years. I deeply love the character, and I’m always excited to see what they do with it”.

Then he holds the door open to directing 007 in the future. “Maybe one day that would work out. You’d have to be needed, if you know what I mean. It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they’re getting along very well”.

They’re also on the lookout for a new director for James Bond 25, which is now expected to feature Daniel Craig after all. However, once Craig departs the role, maybe that’s when Nolan will get the call, to give the series a mini-reboot with James Bond 26?

More as we hear it…
