10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg will take the wheel of Sony’s Uncharted adaptation…

Dan Trachtenberg has stepped up to be the latest director of Sony’s Uncharted movie, which has been struggling to get off the ground for a few years now. He replaces Real Steel and Stranger Things director Shawn Levy, who left the project just before Christmas to helm Ryan Reynolds action-comedy, Free Guy. Levy had been the latest man attached, with David O. Russell also in the running at one point – that could have been quite the ride, eh!

Trachtenberg, who had an unlikely smash hit with 10 Cloverfield Lane, has mainly been pottering around with TV episode projects like Black Mirror‘s ‘Playtest’ and a pilot for Amazon’s The Boys since that film’s success, but he’s now set to take on the big screen story of young Nathan Drake, as imagined by Sony and starring their co-parented Spider-Man, Tom Holland.

Hopes were dashed that Nathan Fillion would take on the role of an older Drake when Holland was announced as the star of the project back in May 2017.

There may be a potential script rewrite in the air before this really gets moving, but we’ll keep you updated.
