The videogame series Contra is being planned as a movie and TV show…

Fans of 80s videogames have the curiousity that is the Rampage movie already heading into cinemas next year. That one stars Dwayne Johnson, and is primed for blockbuster status next year as a consequence. Now, though, Konami wants in on the act, and it’s looking to spin a movie out of the 1987 action shooter, Contra.

The idea is that a television series will also follow. The movie and TV show, like the game, will focus on a pair of soldiers – Bill Rizer and Lance Bean – whose job is to take on difficult missions as part of what turns out to be a rather destructive special task force.

It’s still very early days for the project, but ahead of it heading off for pre-sales at film markets, a mini teaser has already been put together…

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more…
