J.K. Rowling fans are in for a bit of a treat this week, as Sunday will bring us the start of Strike – The Cuckoo’s Calling, a drama that the BBC have created from the first novel in a series the author has been writing under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

Starring Tom Burke (The Musketeers) as soldier-turned-detective Cormoran Strike, here’s the official trailer…

Cormoran will be investigating the supposed suicide of a model called Lula Landry in this adaptation of the first book in the Strike novels, along with his partner Robin Ellacott (Holliday Grainger). Martin Shaw and Siân Phillips are also along for the ride.

The Cuckoo’s Calling has been penned for the screen by Ben Richards (Outcasts) and Tom Edge (The Crown) and will be three episodes long. The BBC plan to follow it up with adaptations of the second and third novels in the series – The Silkworm and Career Of Evil.

We’ll pop our review of the first episode of The Cuckoo’s Calling online after it airs at the end of the week.
