The boys from the Dwarf will return this year, as Red Dwarf XII targets an autumn 2017 release…

Exciting times ahoy! We’ve known for a while that Red Dwarf XII is in the can (it was filmed alongside Red Dwarf XI, a while back), and that Dave has been waiting for the perfect moment to deploy the series onto our telly-boxes.

And now, at long last, comes the first real rumbling regarding a release date. The official Red Dwarf Facebook page has promised that Red Dwarf XII will be “Landing on Dave in Autumn 2017!”

The page also posted this logo…

Red Dwarf XII will arrive this autumn

Pushed for an exact date by eager fans, whoever writes the posts on this page responded with this comment…

“We will give a date in due course – we can’t just yet for various reasons, not least because firm decisions on TV scheduling can’t always be made this far in advance. As soon is the date is official, and ready to be made public, we will shout it from the rooftops!”

As soon as that date is announced, we’ll be sure to let you know. A trailer would be nice, too.

If the previous series was anything to go by, Red Dwarf XII should hopefully retain the stripped-back, dialogue-focused feel. Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John Jules and Robert Llewellyn will all return, of course.

The sarcastic computer Holly is expected to make a comeback as well, with Norman Lovett back in the role.

We’ll bring you more news as we hear it, smeg heads…
