Production has officially begun on the highly-anticipated fourth series of Poldark…

We were pleased to learn a wee while back that 2018 would bring us a fourth season of Poldark, and even more pleased to learn today that it’s been set in stone, with the first picture from the set arriving as filming begins in Cornwall…

Aiden Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson will reprise their roles as Ross and Demelza when the show returns next year, and the stakes will be higher than ever, with Poldark trying to defend Cornwall from George Warleggan (Jack Farthing).

Rebecca Front (The Thick Of It) will also be a new addition to the cast, it’s been announced. She’ll be playing Lady Whitworth, Ossie’s mother.

Poldark series 4: filming gets underway in Cornwall

Mammoth’s Karen Thrussell said the company hopes series 4 “will be our strongest series yet, with eight brilliant scripts from (writer) Debbie Horsfield, a whole new world of stories and our very wonderful cast. In this series Ross and Demelza will face new challenges and try to turn their backs on old ghosts. Ross strives to become a better man, but his dark and reckless streak is never far from the surface and will lead to him facing new enemies and suffering great losses.”

More as we have it.
