iZombie creator Rob Thomas now has another genre-comedy adaptation in the works for The CW…

The CW have another alien drama in the works. A few weeks after the announcement that it would be developing a reimagining of Roswell, the alien romance drama that aired on The WB in the late 90s to early naughts, the network has announced it is also developing an alien dramedy from Rob Thomas, the creator and showrunner of iZombie.

According to Tracking Board, the alien dramedy in question is called It’s the End Of The World As We Know It, and it’s based on the novel of the same name by Iva-Marie Palmer about two young Southern Californian women who become alien bounty hunters when a prison spaceship crashes near their home. Previously employed at a kids’ pizza place, the women are recruited by a space cop to hunt down the escaped criminals who are trying to fit in as eccentric residents of Los Angeles.

New show in the works from Veronica Mars and iZombie creator

Thomas is executive producing, with Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker also executive producing and writing the potential series. It’s unclear how much influence Thomas will actually have, but this sort of thing sounds like it’s right up Thomas’ alley: set in a Southern Californian town (a la Veronica Mars) and combining genre with comedy (a la iZombie).

More news as we hear it. In the mean time, we not-so-patiently await the return of iZombie
