Denis Villeneuve says he'd find directing a James Bond film a "deep pleasure"…

The speculation machine surrounding the upcoming James Bond film has been pointing in Denis Villenueve’s direction. The director of the likes of Blade Runner 2049, Sicario and Arrival was said to be on a shortlist of directors for James Bond 25. That said, he’s also juggling the new take on Dune, and a remake of Cleopatra.

In a new interview with Time Out, Villeneuve was asked about the speculation. And intriguingly, he didn’t rule himself out of the running. More than that, he said when asked about directing Bond that “I cannot talk about that. But let’s say that for me to do a Bond movie would be a deep, deep pleasure”.

Which begs the question: just why can’t he talk about it? Joining the dots would suggest that means he has some involvement with the project that prevents him from doing so. That, or the internet could be joining the wrong dots again.

Still, with filming set to begin on James Bond 25 early next year, Eon Productions will be looking to get its director in place ideally before the end of the year. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more…
