Director Jon Favreau delivered a huge critical and commercial hit with his live action take on The Jungle Book last year. Now? He’s hard at work on The Lion King, with his film set to land in cinemas in 2019.
Disney has now formally confirmed the ensemble cast for the new The Lion King, which includes names that were known to be involved – Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen and more – and adds some new faces. The highest profile is that of Beyonce, who will be playing Nala in the new movie.

Furthermore, it’s also been confirmed that Hans Zimmer, who provided the score for the original animated movie, will be back on scoring duties for this new take on the material too.
The Lion King is due in cinemas in July 2019.
