Producer David Latt announces a Z Nation season 5 renewal, ensuring that Syfy's zombie hit will keep the thrills coming…

David Michael Latt, CEO and co-founder of The Asylum, which produces both Z Nation and Sharknado for Syfy, has announced on Twitter that Z Nation season 5 will be happening in 2018, and fans of the sometimes dark, sometimes lighthearted zombie thriller rejoiced.

The show has introduced a host of enjoyable characters and featured several notable guest stars, including Game Of Thrones author George R. R. Martin and rocker/actor Henry Rollins. Z Nation has had fun with the zombie genre, and the enthusiasm has paid off.

Before the announcement was made on December 15, Latt had told fans on Twitter that he had a call scheduled with Syfy that was likely to determine the fate of Z Nation. He assured everyone that he would reveal the renewal or cancellation of the show regardless of whether or not he was told to wait until the press was contacted. True to form, Latt was the one to break the news with the following tweet:

As mentioned in the above message, Z Nation season 5 will likely appear in 2018 with its regular order of 13 episodes. The news came just as Z Nation prepared to air its two-hour season 4 finale last Friday on Syfy.

More as we have it.
