A sequel to surprise horror hit Happy Death Day is set to start filming in the spring…

Mixing up the Groundhog Day formula with a horror movie, Happy Death Day was a surprise and pretty decent hit movie last year. Made as part of the Blumhouse empire, it was a hugely profitable movie too, from director Christopher B Landon.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, now comes news that a follow-up is on the way. Whilst a sequel hasn’t been officially announced (although it was certainly talked about), a listing for the film has popped up on a round-up of upcoming projects at Production Weekly. Furthermore, it looks as if production could be starting as soon as May this year.

No further details on the movie are available just yet. We’d imagine that a release in 2019 is more than likely, although it’s not inconceivable that the film could be turned around for this year if they get their skates on.

More as we hear it.
