Warner Bros is adding The New Gods to the DC Extended Universe, and Ava DuVernay is going to direct…

Her latest project is currently sat in second place at the American box office, with A Wrinkle In Time opening in the States last week. And now, director Ava DuVernay has lined up her next movie, as she’s joining the DC movie universe.

She’s set to direct an adaptation of The New Gods, based on the comic book work from Jack Kirby. It’s part of the Fourth World Saga, and looks set to be an ambitious movie. The first volume of The New Gods was published in 1971, and the story involves two very different planets, some very well known DC characters, and no shortage of conflict. Warner Bros presumably has its eye on more than one film here.

There’s no word yet on who’s penning the screenplay for the film, or just when we can expect it. As we hear more on that, we’ll let you know…
